Itinerary

Day 1 (Friday)
Afternoon Seattle departure for Honolulu, late afternoon arrival, settle in and walk to welcome dinner.

Day 2 (Saturday)
Grand Circle tour of Oahu. Group to spend the entire day circling the island to orient themselves to the island. Sites and activities:

    • Diamond Head Lookout
    • Pu’u Ualaka’a State Park (Tantalus Lookout)
    • Chinaman’s Hat
    • Kualoa Ranch
    • Kahuku Shrimp Farm (Lunch)
    • North Shore beaches: Sunset Beach, Banzai Pipeline, Waimea Bay
    • Laniakea Beach (Turtle basking beach)
    • Haleiwa Town (Famous surfing town/shopping/Hawaiian shave ice/Lunch)
    • Dole Plantation
    • Leonard’s Bakery (famous deep-fried malasadas and baked goods)
    • Hawaii Kai Lookout
    • Halona Blowhole
    • Sandy’s Beach
    • Makapu’u Point
    • Kailua Town (local beach town, shopping, cafes, Hawaiian Shave Ice, Lunch)
    • He’eia State Park (Hawaiian Cultural sites)
    • Discussion

Day 3 (Sunday)

    • Worship at Kawaiahaʻo church
    • Brunch
    • Bishop Museum
    • Balance of day is free

Day 4 (Monday)

    • Downtown History
    • Mission Houses (history talk about how the missionaries taught early Hawaiians to read and write then introduced them to the bible)
    • Sack lunch to eat at the Mission Houses
    • ʻIolani Palace – The ʻIolani Palace was the royal residence of the rulers of the Kingdom of Hawaiʻi beginning with Kamehameha III under the Kamehameha Dynasty and ending with Queen Liliʻuokalani under the Kalākaua Dynasty,
    • Native Hawaiian government speaker
    • Late afternoon free
    • 6:30 PM Departure for dinner at City Square

Day 5 (Tuesday)

    • Speaker
    • Sack lunch
    • Meet with descendants of missionaries
    • Free time
    • 8:30 PM discussion at hotel

Day 6 (Wednesday)

    • Drive to North shore/YMCA Retreat Center
    • Service project
    • Lunch on site
    • Free time
    • Dinner in Haleiwa

Day 7 (Thursday)

    • Waimea Falls tour and walk
    • Food trucks for lunch
    • Speaker – Hula lesson and talk on culture
    • Evening discussion
    • Dinner in Haleiwa

Day 8 (Friday)

    • Morning discussion
    • Return to Honolulu
    • Free time until late afternoon
    • Luau

Day 9 (Saturday)

    • Sunrise blessing over Waikiki
    • Morning discussion
    • Return to Seattle
